Symptom first, fix second

Questions we answer more than once a week

These are the recurring ones, kept in the order they usually get asked. Each answer is written to be acted on rather than agreed with. If your situation is not here, search the symptom rather than the product name.

How to use this page

Read the question that matches your symptom, do the thing it says, and only then read the next one. The most common way people stay stuck for a week is by collecting three suggestions and applying them simultaneously. When the fault clears, you want to know which change cleared it, because it will happen again.

Things we cannot answer here

Anything about orders, money, or what a term costs belongs on the shop rather than in a thread, and we redirect those rather than guessing. We also cannot re-bind a MAC, reissue credentials, or extend a line from inside the forum, because none of those are forum functions. What we can do is tell you precisely which of those you need before you write in.

Questions

What exactly do I edit when someone says switch hosts?

On an Xtream setup, only the server or host field, which usually looks like an address with a port number after it. Leave the username and password character for character as they are. On an M3U setup, replace only the domain at the front of the playlist URL and keep the entire query string that follows. Save, then reopen the profile so the app reconnects.

How many hosts should I keep on hand?

Two working ones is enough for practical purposes, and writing them down where the person who fixes the TV can find them is the actual advice. There is no benefit to cycling through every host you can obtain; they serve the same line-up and the only variable you are chasing is current load.

My MAG worked yesterday and shows nothing today.

Confirm the portal address is still saved under server settings, since some firmware updates wipe it. If the address is correct and the screen is still blank, the binding to the box MAC is the next suspect, particularly if the hardware was swapped, reset, or repaired. Re-binding happens at source, not on the box.

Does clearing the app cache lose my setup?

It loses your profiles, your cached line-up, and your guide data, so it will ask for credentials again. Have them in front of you before you clear anything. On the upside, a genuinely stale line-up cache is one of the few faults a clear actually fixes.

Why does the same channel look sharper for someone else?

Sources exist at more than one quality and apps do not always pick the same one, so two people on identical lines can see different streams of the same channel. Look for a duplicate entry of that channel in another category before assuming your line is degraded.

Is it safe to post my playlist URL so someone can check it?

No, and threads that include one get edited. That single link contains your username and password, and anyone who copies it can occupy your stream. Post the fault, the device, the host you tried, and the exact error text instead. Nobody debugging in good faith needs your credentials.

My guide is empty on one app and populated on another.

Guide data is fetched separately from video, and apps differ in how they request it and whether they respect your time zone. Trigger the EPG refresh inside the app, confirm the time zone, and give it a few minutes. An empty guide with a working picture is never a reason to change hosts.

Should I post a thread or write to support?

Post when you want to know what is happening and why. Write to support when something has to change at source: a MAC re-bind, a reissue, a line that will not authenticate anywhere. If you cannot tell which, describe the symptom here and somebody will point you within a reply or two.

Someone in a thread asked for my credentials to test them.

Refuse and report the message. Nobody needs your username and password to read a fault description, and the request itself is the fault worth acting on. Anyone genuinely helping asks for the error text and the host, not the keys.

Can somebody tell me which host is the best one?

No, because best is measured in hours and changes with load. Two hosts that work for you, written down where the household can find them, beats any list somebody posts in a thread and stops being accurate by the weekend.

Does anyone here have access to my line?

No. This is a forum and not a control panel. Nobody posting or moderating can see your expiry, reissue credentials, or change a binding, which is why those requests get pointed at support rather than answered.

How much detail is too much for a first post?

There is no such thing, as long as the credentials are left out. Device, app, exact channel, host tried, clock time, second-device result, exact error text. Long and specific gets answered before short and dramatic, every time.

My fault cleared on its own. Is it worth posting?

Yes, with the times. Faults that clear by themselves are almost always load, and the timestamps from several people are what let anyone see a pattern that no single household can.

Does a longer term make the stream steadier?

No. Term length is a date on the record and nothing else: same credentials, same host pool, same one stream per line. If somebody says their playback improved when they re-bought, something else changed and they did not notice it.

How do I search when I do not know the right words?

Paste the error text verbatim into the search box first, since that is the string other people pasted too. Failing that, search the symptom the way you would say it out loud. Searching the name of your app finds you everything and therefore nothing.

Still stuck after all that?

Send the channel, the device and the app you are using and we will look at the line itself.
